The Golf Course

What sets Renaissance apart from other private clubs like it in Massachusetts is the rare convergence of classic golf, golf traditions and a golf course designed for today’s modern technology. The golf course at Renaissance is a brilliant blend of the best "natural" elements inherent in the site with the playing characteristics that make the game’s classic layouts so timeless and enjoyable (View Course Map).

An Inspired Golf Course Design

The golf course at Renaissance takes much of its design inspiration from the great Scottish links of the 19th century and landmark American layouts of the 1920s. The first-ever Brian Silva Signature design has received high acclaim including being named "Course of the Year" in New England by the NEGCOA. Some holes are inspired by British design classics while others evoke the aura of great "traditional" American golf architecture. All combine to write another chapter in the "retro" design movement (View Scorecard). As Ron Whitten, Architectural Editor for Golf Digest has written, "Brian Silva is the leader of the retro design movement."

Characteristics of the Golf Course

The course blends a unique mixture of golf holes ranging from wide open links-style holes with large waste bunkers and fescue-lined rolling fairways to classic New England style tree-lined parkland holes (View Hole Tour). Alternate routes of play are the order of the day throughout the course. Generously wide fairways punctuated by random bunkering and putting surfaces raised above their surrounds call for a variety of approach shots while close cut chipping areas at the greenside require still more shot invention on the part of those whose approaches have strayed.

The Golf Practice Facility

In addition to the stunning private golf course, Renaissance features a world-class golf practice facilities where members can fine tune their golf games. The practice facilities include a dedicated short game area with three green complexes, a three season practice fairway, and multiple putting greens with chipping and bunkered areas. In addition, the Clubhouse will house a golf simulator available for member instruction and play throughout the year.
